12v LCD TV’s

We have a range of High Quality TFT LCD TV’s with screen sizes of 7” Widescreen, 9” Widescreen, 10.4”, 15” & 17” Widescreen. The models offered can be powered from 12 volts DC and 230 volts AC (mains). They have been chosen for their build quality, features and performance. The most popular screen size is 15”, followed by 10.4”. Unlike the older C.R.T. tube TV’s where the measurement is the size of the glass, not the viewable area, with LCD TV’s the size is the actual viewable area. The 10.4” therefore has an inch bigger viewable area compared to a 10” C.R.T. set. When comparing 15” LCD TV’s there are many differences, in particular the low cost sets are invariably P.C. Monitors with TV cards. The disadvantage’s of these sets is lower powered back lights, lower rise (refresh) rates, poorer quality screens and generally poorer build quality as they will have been manufactured to a price as opposed to a specification. This is important for this market as you are likely to subject the TV to a considerable amount of vibration and harshness whilst moving around compared to a purchase specifically for your home where it would usually be in one location and left there. The power of the back light is also important if like us you wish to watch the TV in the summer time, as well as when there is low ambient light. The quality of the actual screens, the electronics and the software all make a difference to the picture quality as well. We choose our range based on these factors and the level of after sales support from suppliers to offer you what we believe to be the best overall value. They include models from leading suppliers like: Avtex in the new K104, Thomson in the market leading 15LCDM03B and Svensen in their STV9000 9” widescreen.

12v DVD Players

We have a choice of portable 12v & mains DVD players with compact dimensions and light weight. They will play bought DVDs & other types of discs making them very versatile. We use one to play audio CDs in conjunction with a pair of amplified speakers. The top selling Model is the Nextbase MDV7.

Satellite

Digiboxes, a variety of portable dishes and a selection of accessories are all offered in this section. We have products from one of the world leaders in Digital technology, Pace and other top brands including: Maxview, Televes and Triax. There are many variables when receiving Satellite TV in a Caravan or Motorhome and we would be pleased to advise you by telephone as to what would be appropriate for your specific requirements.

Freeview

The Digital Terrestrial signal is now stronger than when first launched by OnDigital. You will invariably need a high gain directional aerial such as our PU4, but it is now possible to receive Freeview in a lot of popular leisure destinations. We have a very compact receiver from Hauppauge in the DEC1100 which is capable of being powered from 12 volts and mains.

We have searched through many suppliers products to find what we believe to be the ultimate TV Aerial for use in a leisure vehicle in our PU4.

Battery Chargers

For those of us who like to wild camp or rally battery power is more important than ever before. Not only is the size of your battery bank important but also starting off with it fully charged can make such a difference. Most Caravans and Motorhomes are fitted as standard with a basic combined power supply/battery charger that is restricted to 13.8 volts. They can only charge the battery to approximately 75/80% of its capacity. In order to fully charge a battery you need an intelligent multi-stage charger capable of 14.4 volts. The C-TEK chargers are probably the best in the world and will not only fully charge your battery but also maintain it when it is charged.

Solar Power

The use of Solar Panels has grown in recent years as they provide a convenient and ecological method of charging 12 volt batteries. We are looking to introduce a range of compact portable panels and larger ones suitable for permanent installation.
